Shading Importance Scale:

Optimal shading, can be obtained by utilizing a shading-means (shading device, overhang etc.) with a unique form. Nowadays, this form can be calculated with an innovative approach, the Cellular Method for Optimal Shading [US Patent Pending].

The calculated form accounts for the needs of summer solar protection and winter solar gain during an examined period. As a result, it provides maximum annual energy conservation in operating mechanical systems of cooling and heating.

Calculations of the optimal shading form take into consideration the window configuration, orientation, and geographical location, as well as, hourly solar radiation and hourly thermal comfort conditions of the space needed to be shaded. Accordingly, it renders various shading importance mappings, as illustrated in the examples.

This method can be applied to efficiently shade windows, walls, and spaces. It holds the advantages of enabling a broad range of solutions, some of which can be innovative and complex.
