Research & EcoDesign can generate MAPPING OF SHADING IMPORTANCE for any location in the world, any opening configurations, and any preferred period (year, season, month, etc.). This mapping would indicate the optimal shading forms for these particular settings; providing better thermal comfort and energy conservation in mechanical systems of cooling and heating.

OBJECT-MAPPING
Object-Mapping can be rendered over any proposed shading device. The mapping divides the object into theoretical cells and indicates their degree of importance to provide either shade or solar penetration. Accordingly, the shading device outline can be redefined to provide optimal shading. Any three dimensional objects as vertical fine, building's overhang, nearby structure, and tree's canopy can also be evaluated.

SPACE-MAPPING
Space-Mapping evaluates any space nearby window (or other preferred shaded area). As a result, it can find a theoretical surface, which divides a space requiring to provide shade from a space requiring to provide solar penetration. Accordingly, numerous optimal shading devices can be designed by determining their outline as much as possible in concurrent with this surface.

Research & EcoDesign can design OPTIMAL SHADING DEVICES, providing concept and construction drawings. These shading devices would enable better thermal comfort and energy conservation in mechanical systems of cooling and heating. In addition, the design would enrich, with shape, structure, and material, the overall appearance of the building.

We would reply with form requesting additional information and service fee.
Currently, fee is determined individually according to the scope of requested service.

Then, we obtain the appropriate climatic data; if necessary we simulate indoor temperatures; and simulate shading importance with our program Optimal-Shading. Finally, we deliver mapping of shading importance.

If requested, Research & EcoDesign would also design the shading device, and deliver concept or construction drawings.

Shading request should include the following general information:

• Your name,
• Project location,
• Type of shading importance mapping needed:
  • Object-Mapping (for a specific shading device design),
  • Space-Mapping (for analyzing an outdoor space),
• Shading device properties: type (shading device, overhang, etc.), form, size, and shading period (annual/fixed, seasonal/removable),
• Shaded area: shape and type (window, wall, outdoor space, etc),
• Adjacent living space (if shading window or wall): type, shape, size, number of additional windows and doors in this space,

This information is required in order to generate fee estimation. Additional information would be further requested before generating the mapping. Drawing or sketches are welcome!
